What To Bring On Your Sailing Vacation

Preparing for a vacation out on the water can be tricky at first, but the time you spend getting things together and deciding what to bring will be worth it in the long term. The first thing that you will need to do is make sure that you have a passport and that it is the first thing that you pack. You will not get too far without it.

Depending on the weather and the time of year that you are sailing, the clothing that you bring will vary. If the weather is going to be nice, you will want to pack a bathing suit, shorts, tshirts and a few casual items for the evenings. Cooler temperatures will mean that you will need some pants and sweaters and a windbreaker is ideal year round. While those nice heeled sandals might look good with your outfit, they might not be practical for the ship. You might be better off packing shoes with a non slip and sturdy sole.

You will be in the sun quite often during your trip, so you will want to make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and a hat and sunglasses. You should also pack the necessary toiletries, like shampoo and shower gel, and a basic first aid kit for when you are off the ship. It is extremely important to remember to pack any medications that you may need to take, because you won’t be able to get it while you are sailing.

For those times when you are off of the ship, you will need a day pack to carry everything. You should also plan on bringing a camera with you, so you can take pictures of all of the beautiful places that you will be stopping at during your trip. Just remember that cameras need batteries, so you might want to pack a few extra ones for the trip. Most people cannot live without their electronics, even when they are traveling, so you will want to check with who you are sailing with in order to see what type of charger will be compatible with the outlets on the ship.

Even though there will be ample fun aboard the ship, everyone needs some down time every once in awhile. Bring a book or two, as well as cards or other travel size games. Writing in a journal is a great way to record your memories of the trip, so packing one may be helpful.
